Anish Agarwal

Anish Agarwal is the clinical director of transformation science at the University of Pennsylvania Health System, an assistant professor at the Perelman School of Medicine and chief wellness officer in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Penn Medicine.

Anish’s research focuses on the intersection of digital health, mobile health, and acute care delivery. He is interested in developing and evaluating novel approaches to help health systems better engage patients, support providers, and drive clinical change. His work is supported through various funding mechanisms and has been published in journals such as JAMA, NEJM Catalyst, Annals of Emergency Medicine, Resuscitation, the Journal of General Internal Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine.

Anish holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and biomedical engineering from Tufts University and medical and public health degrees from Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed his emergency medicine training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he served as chief resident. Following residency, he pursued further training in health services research within the National Clinicians Scholars Program at the University of Pennsylvania.
