Way To Health (a service of Penn Medicine) does not share mobile information with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information may be shared with subcontractors solely to provide support services (such as customer service), and these subcontractors are required to protect your information and use it only for the purposes for which it was provided. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Consent and Opt Out

Penn Medicine patients provide informed and voluntary consent to receive text and voice outreach at their doctor’s office or online via webform, which is captured in Penn Medicine’s medical record Epic (as shown below). If Penn Medicine patients are selected for program participation, they are asked to confirm their identity to opt in. The initial outreach text reminds participants about keywords to opt out of further text messaging with the following language: “Text messaging is not 100% secure. Message and data rates may apply. Text BYE to opt out of text messaging”.
