Leo Thorbecke

Leo Thorbecke is a research project manager working across the Center for Insights to Outcomes and the University of Pennsylvania's schools of engineering and medicine. In this role, he manages studies examining the relationship between social media and health, with a focus on how people interact with health information online.  

Leo has worked on a wide range of research and program evaluation projects with an emphasis on qualitative methods. Much of his work has been around substance use disorder treatment, education, and policy advocacy. He hopes for his work to contribute to structural changes that improve community well-being and health equity. Leo holds a bachelor’s in social work from Warren Wilson College.
