Rachel Kishton is an assistant professor of clinical family medicine and community health at the University of Pennsylvania and a practicing physician board-certified in family medicine and psychiatry. She serves as the medical director of Cobalt, Penn Medicine's employee mental health platform. In this role, she oversees the development and implementation of evidence-based interventions to meet the unique mental health needs of the Penn Medicine community. Rachel ensures that Cobalt's content, recommendations, partnerships, and referral pathways provide clinically meaningful support for employees.

She is dedicated to improving the integration of mental health care within the broader medical system, particularly for patients with complex psychiatric and medical conditions. After completing her combined family medicine and psychiatry residency at the University of Cincinnati, she joined the University of Pennsylvania to pursue the National Clinician Scholars Program, where she focused on integrated mental health care system research and implementation science.

Rachel’s academic research investigates the complex factors influencing mental well-being. Her work focuses on health care professionals, families, children, and access to care, providing valuable insights for developing targeted interventions to improve overall mental health outcomes.

Rachel has been recognized for her contributions to mental health, including receiving the Larry A. Real Award from the National Alliance on Mental Illness for her commitment to community psychiatry.
