Sharath Guntuku
Sharath Chandra Guntuku serves as a research scientist at the Center for Insights to Outcomes, an assistant professor in the Department of Computer and Information Science, and a faculty member at the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on building predictive models to uncover insight into health outcomes and the psychological states of individuals and communities.
The computational models Sharath develops utilize large-scale user-generated text, image, and mobile sensor data to answer questions about geospatial, cross-cultural, and temporal aspects of human behavior. Most recently, he has investigated the manifestation of loneliness, ADHD, stress, and depression on social media platforms and the role of heterogeneity in digital behaviors across cultures.
Sharath works closely with the World Well-Being Project at the Positive Psychology Center and the Penn Research in Machine Learning. He holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from BITS-Pilani, India, and a doctoral degree from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
